Kill The Folklaw

Songs from a hundred years ago
Are still strong enough to stand
Through the test of time they flow
In an ever changing land
But this don’t mean that the people’s song
Is from an older age of man
It’s clear to see your thoughts were born
In a narrow secluded clan
There’s never a time to tell a joke
Or for us to sing out loud
Folk are the people and the people are the folk
That means I’m one of the crowd

Kill the folklaw and the seed is sown
Trap the dinosaur bury the bone
Kill the folklaw here’s your choice
Songs for folk or folk with no voice

Sounding tired and worn they sit and grin
In some kind of warp of time
Rainbow woollys and a furry chin
With Grandad’s favourite rhyme
Locked by the chains of a by-gone age
With no wish to take on change
The music I bring and the words that I sing
Must strike them very strange
Oh but there’ll be a time when we won’t look back
We’ll all sing out loud
It’ll be a day to write a song about
A day that’ll make us proud
