I heard and felt the coming of the storm
And I wished aloud for somewhere dry and warm
But the pressure built and the clouds moved in
Drawing bullets from the hills to soak my skin
And left me dripping wet alone and cold
So I pulle my hat a little tighter round my head
Covered my ears with the collars of my coat and looked ahead
But then the heavens cracked and a bolt of fire
Hit me off my feet as the flood got higher
And left me face down drowning in the cold
I had to fight and found the strength to rise
Wiped the muddy waters from my eyes
Stood and faced the fire and rain
Dodging all the bullets that brought the pain
And left me fighting for air alone and cold
I reached and caught a branch I travelled past
Knowing well this chance could be my last
But as I pulled myself from the hands of hell
There was a creaking in the branch and to the water I fell
And I drifted further down alone and cold
I shouldve realised it could never have taken my weight
And in a funny kind of way it felt like it was fate
But thats not to say I believe in it
Its just theres no time for physics when youre in the shit
Youll try anything to get out of the cold
I woke up face down wondering where I lay
The winds have ceased and the pain had gone away
The only clouds that filled the sky
Were cirrus whisps I was home and dry
It felt so good to be out of the cold
